THE CLIENT
The Sacred Heart Biography Service based at St Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst, provides an opportunity for people in community palliative care living to sit with a biography volunteer and tell their life story.
The service supports clients to find meaning in life and to leave a tangible legacy. It normalises death and places value on the lived experience of the dying.
As a volunteer biographer, it is the most important and meaningful ‘job’ I’ve ever had with the opportunity to be part of an amazing community of fellow biographers and coordinators.
MY ROLE
Meeting with palliative care clients (over 5-6 sessions) to hear their story
Compassionate listening
Recording and transcribing
Editing final biography
